A native of North Carolina, Christy received her B.S. in Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1991. After three years of work in architecture firms in Pennsylvania and Virginia, she visited Austin on a sunny October day and decided to stay, earning her Masters of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997.

Since then, she has worked in construction and architecture, interested in experiencing directly how buildings come to be, and the different roles the architect can play in this process. She has taught several undergraduate design studios at UT and has worked in Austin for John Mayfield,AIA, David Heymann,Architect, and KRDB.

The house she designed for her parents in Blanco, Texas, is the project responsible for her increasing interest in rainwater collection and other sustainable building systems.
